South Gate Calls on Tripepi Smith for Expanded Video Production
The City of South Gate called upon Tripepi Smith to produce videos to spread the word about COVID-19 updates, community information and the Census to residents.
“In the midst of the pandemic, our community has looked to the City for guidance, and with the help of Tripepi Smith, we’re providing guidance for our community. Video is a powerful tool to reach our residents, and as Mayor I want to work hard every day to reach our community and deliver for them,” said Mayor Maria Davila. “Tripepi Smith offers comprehensive communications support and deep knowledge of local government. Their wisdom helps us execute better and offer the quality communications that our residents need and deserve.”
The video project deliveries have consisted of:
- An animated introduction clip that plays before city council meetings explaining how residents can safely participate in public meetings.
- A video where residents are introduced to their city council members and learn their hopes for South Gate.
- A video showcasing enrichment programs that can help South Gate’s youth navigate their college and early career plans.
- Lastly, a video where city council members come together again to encourage residents to participate in the 2020 Census.
Melanie James, senior business analyst at Tripepi Smith, leads the South Gate team through outreach projects and worked with City staff to direct the videos. The video production team, consisting of Senior Business Analyst Cameron Grimm, Business Analysts Skylar Hunter and Saara Lampwalla and Junior Business Analyst Alexandra Applegate, has filmed over 10 videos and is working on 8 animated videos.

The City is investing heavily in public information, transparency and community education.”
The videos can be found on the City of South Gate’s YouTube channel. Spanish and English versions, along with captions, were created for each one before they were posted to the City’s social media.
