Tripepi Smith’s Always-Be-Learning (#ABL) culture drives us to stay up to speed on constantly changing social media platforms. This knowledge empowers our team to track, interpret and adapt to the latest and greatest social media trends on behalf of the public agencies we serve. The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:

  1. X (Twitter) recently announced that an account’s Pinned Posts will now be seen by all of their followers. This update was implemented in hopes of combating the issue many X users are facing: their followers are not seeing their published content. While this helps users game the X algorithm, it is important to note that users can only get this boost from one post every 48 hours.
  2. New from Google Business is a social media display feature, giving searchers a glimpse into recent posts from your connected profiles. Business owners can display their Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok and X handles on their Google Business dashboard, allowing users to see a preview of their feeds.
  3. To further build up its Verified program, Meta is considering implementing original content protection, a quicker ad review process, increased access to customer support, the ability to add links within Reels and more. Keep an eye out for these coming updates.
  4. The team at Instagram is testing out new Reels features, notably increasing video duration time to 3 minutes. Instagram hopes that this upgrade will help both broaden user behaviors and increase viewer engagement. Instagram has been slowly rolling this out to users, and 10-minute uploads are on the horizon.
  5. YouTube is making moves to expand its disclosures on AI-generated content. A new feature within Creator Studio requires users to disclose when they upload realistic-looking content that’s been made with AI tools. The platform hopes this upgrade will help prevent the spread of misinformation via manipulated or simulated depictions.
