Tripepi Smith’s Always-Be-Learning (#ABL) culture drives us to stay up to speed on constantly changing social media platforms. This knowledge empowers our team to track, interpret and adapt to the latest and greatest social media trends on behalf of the public agencies we serve. The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:

  1. LinkedIn has expanded its Collaborative Articles feature with a “Contribute Expertise” shortcut. Personalized for each user, this button connects individuals to Collaborative Articles they can contribute to based on the expertise noted on their profiles. The platform hopes this update will encourage engagement and get more users both contributing to and reading posts.
  2. Instagram confirmed that all users will soon have the Notes feature on their profiles. Notes allow users to share quick, status-like updates that expire after 24 hours. The app also announced that connections will soon be able to leave Notes on friends’ profiles to spark more engagement.
  3. X announced that all iOS users will have the option of using a Passkey login. Passkeys utilize fingerprint and face ID login to create a cryptographic data transfer for account access. In other words, users’ login information stays within their devices, creating a more secure process when accessing their accounts.
  4. Also from X is progress on its new Explore page. Including topic summaries generated by its Grok AI feature, the platform’s personal chatbot, this page allows users to more efficiently stay updated on news in real-time. It also features a “Live on X” element that helps users easily watch live streams.
  5. Facebook has begun rolling out its new full-screen video player feature. When users tap on a video within the Facebook app, they will initially see a fullscreen, vertical video, rather than horizontal. Mimicking the Reels format, Facebook hopes this will further amplify content from video creators.
