Culver City Taps Team TS for Voter Education on Measure CC, Los Angeles County’s Most-Supported Ballot Measure in March 2020 Election
The residents of the City of Culver City passed Measure CC, a continuation of a half-cent sales tax that was due to sunset in 2023, with 76.93% YES, making Measure CC the most-supported ballot measure in Los Angeles County in the March 3, 2020 election.
To effectively inform residents about Measure CC and educate voters, Culver City turned to Tripepi Smith. This was Culver City’s third time tapping the firm for voter outreach, the first being Measure CW in 2016 and Measure C in 2018–both of which passed by more than 70 percent.
Tripepi Smith Director Jon Barilone led the three-month effort, with support from Business Analyst Saara Lampwalla and Junior Business Analysts Blair Welch and Alexandra Applegate. The team created a webpage dedicated to Measure CC, outlining what residents needed to learn about the half-cent sales tax prior to voting. The webpage features FAQs; a collaboration among Tripepi Smith, staff and residents; facts about Measure CC; resources for voter registration and colorful graphics by Senior Graphic Designer Kjerstin Wingert. Kjerstin also designed mailers (delivered to all mailboxes in the city) and digital placement graphics for social media.
To round out Culver City’s education plan, Senior Business Analyst Cameron Grimm crafted an animated video explainer that summarized key facts in approximately one minute.

Tripepi Smith has a long-standing partnership with Culver City and is currently contracted to provide a variety of strategic communication support services for the City through June 2021. Culver City first began engaging the firm in 2016 when Tripepi Smith conducted a communications assessment for the City and provided education/outreach services for the Measure CW campaign.
