The City of Grover Beach, a seaside community located in San Luis Obispo County, extended its engagement with Tripepi Smith for communications support through December 2020.

Led by Senior Business Analyst Emily Mason, Team Tripepi Smith works closely with City Staff to engage with residents on a variety of local issues, such as local policy and important public health updates. Junior Business Analyst Molly Lockwood joins the effort to manage the City’s social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Nextdoor), create press releases and pull metrics and analytics for monthly dashboard reports. The team also launched and developed the City’s monthly newsletter, Grover Gazette, to give residents the scoop on City issues, services and projects as well as shining a spotlight on the employees who serve Grover Beach.

“Tripepi Smith’s work has made our government more accessible to residents,” said Grover Beach City Manager Matthew Bronson. “Clear, reliable and timely communications with both the community and members of the press are always important, and even more so when you’re dealing with emergencies. Tripepi Smith has demonstrated that they’re a reliable partner. For example, when we needed thoughtful communications assistance in releasing information about a planned protest in our City, Emily quickly helped us pull together several well-written statements that helped prepare our business community, notified our residents about what to expect and even successfully invited the protest organizers to connect with us so we could work together to make it a successful demonstration.”

Like other cities in San Luis Obispo County and across the country, Grover Beach is seeking to address community priorities and fiscal impacts worsened by COVID-19 through a sales tax measure. The City expanded its contract with Tripepi Smith to include voter outreach and education, with the goal of empowering residents to use their right to vote to decide whether they would like to help address the community’s unmet needs through this sales tax measure.

“The City of Grover Beach delivers a high caliber of service to its community, and the city has made tremendous progress on several fronts in the last couple years. Plus, with a backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and centered in the beautiful central coast, I can ever go wrong with a client visit. Tripepi Smith is honored to have Grover Beach on our roster of clients,” said Tripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith. “The City Staff team has been consistently dedicated to transparency and public information efforts in every conversation we have. The residents are well served by Matt and his team.”
