Tripepi Smith Asked to Design WesternU ReunionWeekend Invitation

Tripepi Smith collaborated with the Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) Alumni Association to design the invitation for its second annual Reunion Weekend, September 28, 2019.

With creative and logistical support from Principal Katherine Griffiths, Senior Business Analyst and Designer Melanie James stepped up to the plate to not only create the invitation but also produce matching collateral materials, including an invitation envelope, RSVP card and RSVP envelope.

The engagement began at WesternU’s administrative offices with an onsite kickoff meeting, during which Katherine and Melanie established a rapport with the new client, gained a contextual understanding of the environment and clarified project objectives, goals and requirements.

Intended to be a comprehensive suite, the invitation and supporting materials provided details about the pricing schedule and location of the event, including a custom map. The invitation also featured a schedule of events. The RSVP card, visually aligned with the invitation, prompted alumni who were unable to attend to share their news for publication in the university’s alumni magazine, WesternU View.

Consistent with the tone and gravitas of WesternU, Melanie chose to keep the design elegant. She incorporated WesternU’s signature burgundy color to reinforce recognition among the alumni audience. A background of stars and string lights provided a focal point and previewed the atmosphere of the evening event.

“Everything was sized to fit in the envelope and be a complete invite and RSVP package,” said Melanie.

WesternU distributed the invitation in print and digital formats. More than 160 guests attended the event, which provided alumni with the chance to catch up with classmates, reconnect with faculty members and inspire the next generation of health care providers.

“A good invitation is crucial for creating a positive and lasting impression, effectively communicating details and aligning with an overall theme and brand image,” said Katherine. “It sets the stage for the event experience and contributes to its overall success. We’re honored that Western chose to partner with Tripepi Smith to promote this important event.”
