Tripepi Smith Delivers Staff Portraits for the California JPIA
The California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (California JPIA) turned to Tripepi Smith for new staff headshots to help capture their growing team with a cohesive set of portraits.
Weeks before the photoshoot occurred, Tripepi Smith worked closely with the California JPIA to develop a production document, shot list, schedule and calendar. California JPIA staff members were assigned to a 15-minute block of time for their photo shoot and provided with guidance and tips on attire and preparation that would help them capture their best selves on film.
“From the first meeting to discuss the project, Tripepi Smith provided insight on how to set up the photo shoot, make our staff comfortable, and ensure the best photos possible, including recommending what time of day to shoot and where, as well as what clothes look best on camera,” said California JPIA Communications Director Olga Berdial. “We work with members from across the State of California, and professional headshots help us to be more approachable and relatable to member staff. We trusted Tripepi Smith to deliver on what can be a very personal project, and they did a great job. Thank you to Kjerstin, Katherine, and Nolan for making the project fun and easy for our team to execute.”
Throughout two day-long sessions, Tripepi Smith Principal Katherine Griffiths, Senior Graphic Designer Kjerstin Wingert and Business Analysts Nolan Voge and Junior Business Analyst Jenni Wechsler constructed an on-site studio leveraging Tripepi Smith’s extensive equipment. The setup included Sony mirrorless cameras and lenses, LED light kits and a backdrop with multiple backgrounds ranging from white to textured gray. In addition to portraits, photographers Kjerstin and Nolan captured atmospheric images of the Authority’s team in action that highlighted their service to their member agencies.
Throughout the day, staff was able to view the photos in real time to provide quality assurance. Following the photo shoot, Kjerstin and Jenni edited the photos, implementing touch-ups upon request. The final approved portraits and stock photography debuted on the California JPIA’s website, cjpia.org, this spring.
“The California JPIA is the true definition of a Tripepi Smith VIP! Olga and the rest of the team were extremely professional and collaborative throughout the photoshoot process, making it easier for us to deliver a quality end product,” said Kjerstin. “It was a rewarding project to be able to offer them portraits and stock imagery that humanize the Authority’s work. These photos can be featured in their communications and be used for years to come.”
