Tripepi Smith has produced a video highlighting the partnership between Climatec Energy Services and the City of San Leandro. The video illustrates the impact of smart city technologies on city operations and the benefits it yields to the community. Additionally, it highlights the connection between smart cities and achieving significant environmental goals.

The video features interviews with members of the San Leandro City Council, including Mayor Pauline Russo Cutter and Council Members Benny Lee, Corina Lopez and Lee Thomas, as well as city staff like Assistant City Manager Jeff Kay, IT Manager Tony Batalla and former Chief Innovation Officer Deborah Acosta. All participants discuss San Leandro’s efforts to drive Smart City technologies and sustainability efforts within their city.

“San Leandro is becoming recognized as a leader in smart city innovation, and the City is receiving international acclaim,” said Debbie Pollart, San Leandro Public Works Director. “Our work with Climatec has been a key aspect of our innovation efforts that deliver both powerful new technologies and eco-friendly outcomes for our community. Tripepi Smith was fun to work with on this video project and they did an outstanding job capturing the importance of our sustainability efforts and the story of San Leandro’s success.”

The partnership between San Leandro and Climatec began in 2016, when the city selected Climatec to install $5.2 million in energy and water-saving equipment at numerous public facilities across the City. 4,730 City street lights were replaced with LED smart lights and a wireless mesh network was integrated into the City’s street light poles. In 2017, Climatec helped San Leandro receive a grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) to fund a $3.9 million project to implement energy efficiency measures and a 1-megawatt solar power generation system at San Leandro’s Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). All told, the improvements will lower energy costs, cut waste, and save the city millions of dollars over the next decade.

Tripepi Smith provided project management, videography, video editing, onsite interviews, and graphics to fulfill the project for Climatec. The project was led by Melanie James, Business Analyst, with filming and editing by Angel Ruiz, Videographer. Tripepi Smith also delivered a website (smartcitysl.com) that highlights the major accomplishments of the City’s efforts to become a leading smart city.

“Climatec is one of the most innovative companies in the smart city technology sphere, and we’re proud to be able to work with them,” said Ryder Todd Smith, President of Tripepi Smith. “The things San Leandro and Climatec have been able to accomplish together are incredible, and Tripepi Smith is so proud to have been able to capture it on video.”

Climatec also partnered with the City of Fountain Valley, enlisting Tripepi Smith to create a video and website showcasing the positive effect smart technologies have had on the City.
