Tripepi Smith Creates New Logo for City of Napa Water Division
The City of Napa engaged Tripepi Smith to design a logo for the City’s Water Division in celebration of the water system’s 100th anniversary. The Water Division logo draws inspiration from the City’s main logo to artfully highlight Napa’s landmark Milliken Dam, a key water source and a central component to the identity of the division.
“From our ongoing work with Tripepi Smith, we knew that their brand identity expertise would make them an exceptional partner to develop the City of Napa’s Water Division logo,” said Community Relations and Media Manager Jaina French. “The team delivered, creating a unique and fun design that adheres to Napa’s brand while showcasing the unique elements of our Water Division.”
The design was crafted by Tripepi Smith Creative Director Kevin Bostwick. The suite of logo options included a general division logo, a 100th-anniversary version and an animated graphic. The graphic illustrates the flow at Milliken Dam and matches the primary City logo in style, serving as a great example of a sub-logo that speaks for itself without straying from the overall brand identity.
“I knew the Water Division wanted a logo that is special to their specific department, but still felt part of the City’s brand,” said Kevin. “I’m proud of the logo designed as it is uniquely relevant for the Water Division, yet is visually consistent when set alongside the City’s main logo.”
The City of Napa has partnered with Tripepi Smith since 2019, providing social media management, written content development and website support on an ongoing basis. Additional projects have included redistricting outreach, economic development initiatives, COVID-19 communications, video creation and graphic design support for a number of annual reports and graphics.
About the City of Napa
Napa is an old City by California standards, founded in 1847 as a jumping-off point for 49ers bound for the Gold Rush. Today, Napa is a vibrant and modern community with respect for its colorful past. While yesterday’s jobs came largely in heavy industrial pursuits, today’s workforce is mostly white-collar and the economy is increasingly based on tourism. Napa enjoys low crime rates, high standards of living, clean air and nearly perfect weather year-round. As the County seat for one of the world’s Great Wine Capitals, the Napa name is synonymous with quality. Learn more about the City of Napa at CityOfNapa.org.
