Cal cities annual conference team Tripepi Smith is headed to the League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Conference and Expo in Sacramento from September 20-22, 2023. This year’s conference will be celebrating the milestone anniversary of 125 years since the founding of Cal Cities.

In attendance at this year’s annual conference will be Principal Katherine Griffiths, Director Jennifer Vaughn, Executive Recruiter Cathy Thompson, Senior Business Analyst Sara Madsen, and Junior Business Analyst Alyson Nichols

“I am thrilled to be at this year’s annual conference, as so many of our clients are members of Cal Cities,” said Jennifer Vaughn. “Being able to spend face-to-face time with old friends and getting the chance to connect with new ones is something I very much appreciate. I had a blast at last year’s conference so I am thrilled to be able to return this year”.

The Tripepi Smith team will not only be attending the conference, but Principal Katherine Griffiths will also be moderating a session titled “The Mayor Said What?! Staying Ahead of the News” on Thursday, September 21 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Participating in this session will be Sharon Gonsalves, Director of Government Affairs for Renne Public Law Group, and Peter Pirnejad, City Manager for Los Altos Hills. Their session will focus on how public agencies can navigate the world of media relations and social listening to ensure their messages stay relevant and to ‘get a leg-up on their local scuttle-butt’.

Executive Recruiter Cathy Thompson will also be speaking at one of the sessions, titled “Hiring Future Local Leaders: How to Attract Top Talent”, which is also on Thursday, September 21 at 4 p.m. Cathy will be sharing her own expertise in the recruiting field from TS Talent Solutions to provide insight on the most effective recruiting strategies that cities can use to attract strong candidates.

“Being able to connect with and learn from municipal staff and public officials is an amazing experience,” said Katherine. “Cal Cities has strengthened cities in California for the past 125 years. I look forward to connecting with government leaders who share Cal Cities’ commitment to advocating for local government.”

Tripepi Smith is a Principal Partner of CalCities and has been supporting the League for the past eight years.

About Cal Cities

The League of California Cities has been shaping the Golden State’s political landscape since the association was founded in 1898. We defend and expand local control through advocacy efforts in the Legislature, at the ballot box, in the courts, and through strategic outreach that informs and educates the public, policymakers, and opinion leaders. Cal Cities also offers education and training programs designed to teach city officials about new developments in their field and exchange solutions to common challenges facing their cities.
