  • Ten essential steps to upgrading your city website
  • Creating a communication platform for the city manager
  • Mobile applications that are impacting your community relationship now
  • How to protect your professional online reputation

The subject was clearly popular with the conference attendees, as over 150 people chose to attend the breakout session.

In addition to their respective roles with their employers, panel members McKinney, Robinson and Lewton also serve in professional group leadership roles. McKinney is president of the California City Management Foundation. Robinson is a board member of the California City Management Foundation. Lewton is president of the Municipal Information Systems Management Association of California.

“It was great to look out at a room of city managers who were eager to get some hands-on advice about leveraging the Internet to better connect with their residents. Transparency, community education and citizen engagement are critical to every city, and the management profession clearly recognizes the role that the Internet plays in making those things possible,” said Ryder Todd Smith, president of Tripepi Smith. “Tracy and Brian have a ton of experience to share, and Wade is always a draw with his many city manager leadership positions and his magnetic personality.”

The annual City Manager Department Meeting is the biggest gathering of city managers in the State of California. This year the event was hosted in San Francisco and was chaired by incoming City Manager Department president Sean Joyce.
