In May 2020, Pomona Choice Energy enlisted Tripepi Smith to provide marketing support for their launch. Tripepi Smith Director of Operations Katherine Griffiths spearheaded the project, which included the creation of a website, the development of a marketing plan and four community mailers.

“The City of Pomona is bringing innovative and eco-friendly power options to our residents, and as we make these options available, we want to be transparent and informative,” said Julie Carver, CCA lead and Environmental Compliance Supervisor in the City of Pomona’s Water Resources Department. “Tripepi Smith’s strong record of working with CCAs and understanding the complexities of the energy industry is why we chose to partner with them.”

Team Tripepi Smith is deeply familiar with Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs) and has worked with several city governments and joint power authorities to launch or support CCA’s. In the summer of 2018, the California Choice Energy Authority (CalChoice) engaged Tripepi Smith to assist in its marketing and communications efforts. Additionally, Tripepi Smith provides support for CalChoice’s associate members with communication support related to their CCA activities. In April 2019, Triepi Smith helped Pomona Choice Energy announce their partnership with CalChoice.

Pomona Choice Energy first engaged with Tripepi Smith in September 2019 when they turned to Team Tripepi Smith to develop a brand and identity system for the new CCA. Graphic Designer Sara Madsen designed a logo package for Pomona Choice Energy. The work showcased her detail-oriented  design by including the City of Pomona’s signature blue and recognizing the area’s roots in the citrus industry.

“Pomona Choice Energy provides Pomona residents with low-priced, clean energy alternatives,” said Katherine. “I’m proud of the team for working hard to convey information to the public about Pomona Choice Energy. This is an exciting step forward for the residents and businesses of Pomona.”

About Pomona Choice Energy

Pomona Choice Energy —created by the City of Pomona specifically for residents and local businesses—offers the community a choice where there wasn’t one before. Pomona Choice Energy is an alternative to Southern California Edison (SCE), the local investor-owned utility and previously the only power provider available in the City. The new program is locally-managed, not-for-profit and offers clean energy at low, competitive rates. Additionally, revenue from the program will be reinvested into the community through local programs and benefits.
