The City of Orinda Partners with Tripepi Smith in Wildfire Prevention Efforts
With the help of Tripepi Smith, the City of Orinda continues to expand wildfire prevention and emergency preparedness communications.
Communications regarding Measure R initiatives — a local 1% sales tax aimed towards funding wildfire risk reduction, disaster planning and maintenance/repair of public roads and storm drains –– constitute the majority of Tripepi Smith’s work with the City.
“We’re always looking to better serve our community. To make that happen, we must create a bridge of communication with our residents,” said City Manager David Biggs. “With the help of Tripepi Smith, the City continues to explore new and unique ways to reach residents, encouraging them to participate in creating a more wildfire-safe community. Tripepi Smith has a proven track record with their work in local government, and their insight continues to elevate our outreach efforts.”
Together, the City and Tripepi Smith have worked collaboratively with key community partners and stakeholders, such as the Moraga Orinda Fire Department and Orinda Firewise Council, to unify messaging and amplify shared efforts. Focus areas include rebate/incentive programming for home hardening efforts, evacuation information, planting guidelines, annual abatement deadlines and the City’s Chipper Truck.
Driven by goals laid out by the City of Orinda’s Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee (SSTOC), Tripepi Smith and the City have created numerous outreach materials, including the following:
- Measure R Resources Trifold
- Chipper Campaign Yard Sign
- Orinda Fire Evacuation Guide and General Information Pamphlet
- Educational Videos
Tripepi Smith has partnered with Orinda since 2021 when the City first enlisted Tripepi Smith to evaluate its communication efforts through a Platforms Review, social media policy update and strategic communications plan. The City is committed to enhancing its communication initiatives and prioritizing social media outreach, leading to a continued partnership with Tripepi Smith. Since expanding social media outreach efforts in 2021, the City has increased online engagements by 23,826%.
“The City of Orinda is committed to effectively engaging and educating their residents, and it’s a privilege to support those efforts,” said Kaitlyn Wu, Senior Business Analyst at Tripepi Smith. “We look forward to our partnership as we ensure that the City’s residents are prepared in the event of an emergency and actively involved in wildfire prevention.”
About the City of Orinda
The City of Orinda is located in southwest Contra Costa County, within 20 minutes of downtown San Francisco. In contrast to the more urban existence of the surrounding area, the tree-studded hillsides of the 12.8 square-mile City contribute to Orinda’s aesthetic beauty.
