New Website for Sacramento Authority

When the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC) needed to improve the management of the Center’s website, Joyce Starosciak, Administrative Services Manager, turned to Tripepi Smith. Rather than face an expensive redesign process, Starosciak sought a narrowed scope to keep the existing design but update the backend management of the site with a migration to a platform with long-term sustainability. Working with Tripepi Smith and the WordPress content management system was the perfect solution.

“Our goal was to cost-effectively move the SRFECC’s website to a modern platform with easy management and future-proof the site. Tripepi Smith offered a solution that achieved that objective at a compelling price,” noted Starosciak. “Tripepi Smith’s migration process and implementation was simple, and our team is already experiencing benefits of the new platform. Tripepi Smith has been highly responsive throughout the process and delivered on everything they promised.”

The new platform not only delivered a modern content management system, but also shifted the website to a mobile-responsive design to better serve website visitors using mobile phones and tablets. Additionally, Tripepi Smith implemented basic search engine optimization tools to ensure SRFECC has a firm presence on the Internet for those seeking information on the Center.

The new website is powered by the open source WordPress content management system. The platform provides an intuitive user interface to easily manage content while avoiding proprietary lock-in that many other public agency website solutions require. The result is a website that is simple to manage and that staff will easily update.

“SRFECC understands the importance of transparency and having a presence on the Internet. Their core mission is important to life and safety in the greater Sacramento region, and this website provides an improved platform to connect with those they serve,” said Ryder Todd Smith, President at Tripepi Smith. “We continue to see market momentum toward open-source website solutions that offer cost savings and avoid proprietary lock-in.”

Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center serves 1.4M people daily, dispatching Fire and Medical calls for four all-risk fire departments and 6 all-volunteer fire departments in Sacramento County.  SRFECC dispatches over 170,000 incidents per year and handles 300,000 phone calls; it is the 3rd largest Fire Dispatch Center in California.
