  |   News   |   No comment

Tripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith, Director Jon Barilone and Manhattan Beach Senior MMASC logoManagement Analyst George Gabriel, MPP were the first to present in the Municipal Management Association of Southern California’s (MMASC) fall webinar series.

“Disasters generate immense pressure on organizations. They’re hard to manage, especially when you don’t have your communications plan together,” Ryder commented. “Tripepi Smith is honored to have been entrusted by many public agencies to aid their crisis response. We’ve learned so many lessons from working with agencies across the state, and we’re happy to have brought these insights to the MMASC audience.”

At 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, MMASC members joined the panel to hear the firm’s 7 Cardinal Rules of Crisis Communications. Inspired by lessons learned in the trenches and 2020’s unforeseen challenges, attendees learned of tried and true notification platforms, checklists, inter-agency communications, frequency of communications and leveraging social media to its fullest.

“We need to continue talking about how we can best handle communications before, during and after disasters,” Jon commented. “I’m glad we got to continue this discussion with MMASC. I know that as we shared experiences, tips and even failures, we will be better prepared for what may come our way in the future.”
