munitechacademy300x300The Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC) has formally launched Municipal Technology Academy (“MuniTech Academy”), a joint venture project with Tripepi Smith, to advance technical education and management skills for thousands of IT professionals working in government. MuniTech Academy had a soft launch in April this year with the rollout of two sold-out VMware virtual classes. Today marks the public launch of the program with a new website and additions to the course lineup.

Tripepi Smith is providing the marketing and logistical support for the joint venture with MISAC. The work includes delivery and execution of a website, ongoing email campaign support, course planning and arrangements, payment processing support and faculty sourcing.

MISAC is the premier information technology professional association for local government staff in the state of California. With over 600 members representing 200+ agencies, the non-profit focuses on enhancing the the knowledge and skills of its members to increase productivity, support local government innovation and improve network security.

misacTSAWebLocal governments are under pressure to deliver more services with less staff. This places greater demand on the ability of information technology to enhance the productivity of the agency staff. While focusing on innovation, today’s environment also requires that the security of the network (and systems connected to the network) is paramount. Delivering on these demands requires professional technical resources who can align new technologies and platforms with the goals of city and agency senior management. Cross agency collaboration, a supportive learning environment and cutting-edge skills development are needed to achieve success and MuniTech Academy is designed to help.

“MISAC had a great experience working with Tripepi Smith to support our association, so when it came time to find a partner to take our education programming goals to a new level, we turned again to Tripepi Smith,” said Brian Lewton, president of MISAC and IT Manager in the City of Coronado. “MISAC knows that our members require constant learning to stay ahead of the technology curve, and the creation of MuniTech Academy will add even more value for MISAC members while benefiting IT staff across California.”

MuniTech Academy is focused on offering curriculum most in demand by public agency staff. By focusing on public agency staff, the Academy can then aggregate the purchasing of training services across numerous agencies and offer significantly discounted classes for students. Members of MISAC, as the joint venture partner, get even more significant discounts on the courses.

“Aggregating demand for technology training in local government is a simple but powerful idea. We know there is a huge and ongoing need, and there is now a platform that can benefit every technology worker in government with significant discounts on top-quality training,” stated Ryder Todd Smith, president of Tripepi Smith. “Whether you have one or one thousand IT people in your organization, MuniTech Academy is the obvious choice for training.”

The Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC) is comprised of public agency information technology professionals working throughout California. MISAC promotes the understanding and strategic use of information technology within local government agencies through sharing of best practices. In carrying out its mission, the organization focuses on four key components: Relationships; Member Resources; Education & Professional Development; and Advocacy.
