On July 1, 2022, the Clean Energy Alliance’s (CEA) board of directors unanimously voted to extend the Alliance’s contract with Tripepi Smith. Through this one-year contract extension, Tripepi Smith will continue to provide general communications support for the joint powers authority that provides community choice aggregation services to the north San Diego County area.

“Strategic outreach and community education is vital to CEA’s success in bringing clean energy options to our member agencies,” said Chief Executive Officer Barbara Boswell. “Continuing our contract with Tripepi Smith will ensure that our customers continue to receive clear and factual information about the benefits of CEA’s services.”

Since its inception, Tripepi Smith has supported CEA’s communications needs and expansion efforts. In 2021, CEA launched with its founding members Carlsbad, Del Mar and Solana Beach. CEA will expand its member agencies with Escondido and San Marcos in April 2023, followed by a launch in Oceanside and Vista around April 2024.

Tripepi Smith’s partnership with the Clean Energy Alliance is a holistic effort that is led by Senior Business Analyst Sara Madsen. She is responsible for account and project management, strategy, coordination and creative direction for writing and design. Business Analyst Allison Torres provides project management leadership, strategy support and Spanish translation. Junior Business Analyst Alyson Nichols provides content development support and facilitates social media, e-newsletters, media relations and website content updates. Other creative Tripepi Smith team members have assisted with projects rooted in video production, photography, graphic design and more.

“CEA has always been transparent and sought out community engagement as the Alliance rolled out its services. Our continued partnership with CEA demonstrates the wide breadth of skilled individuals we have at Tripepi Smith and their proven knowledge in how to be effective in the CCA space,” said Senior Business Analyst Sara Madsen. “We are honored to serve another year as CEA’s trusted communications team.”

About Clean Energy Alliance

Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) follows a community choice energy (CCE) model that allows local governments to purchase power to meet their community’s electricity needs, offering an alternative to investor-owned utilities. CEA offers competitive prices and clean energy options while reinvesting revenues into projects and programs that benefit members’ communities.

CEA was established through a multi-agency partnership. This model enables local governments to purchase and manage their community’s energy supply. While CEA is locally operated, they work in partnership with the region’s existing investor-owned utility: CEA procures the electricity while the local IOU continues to deliver energy, maintain the grid, provide billing services and handle all new service requests and emergencies.
