Tripepi Smith to Attend the CalCities City Clerk Seminar
Tripepi Smith Principal Jennifer Nentwig will speak in a session at the League of California Cities (CalCities) City Clerks New Law and Elections Seminar in San Diego, CA on December 15, 2023.
The session, New Laws for District Elections: Santa Monica and FAIR MAPS Act Changes, will be held on December 15 from 10:30 AM – 12 PM. Moderated by Randi Johl, Director of Legislative Affairs/City Clerk, City of Temecula, and featuring a panel with Douglas Johnson, Owner of National Demographics Corporation (NDC), Marguerite Leoni, Partner at Nielsen Merksamer, and Jennifer Nentwig, Principal at Tripepi Smith, the session will cover background on recent FAIR MAPS Act changes and a conversation of the California Voting Rights Act case Pico Neighborhood Association, et al., v. City of Santa Monica.
“I am very excited to be participating in a session at this year’s seminar, and to be able to share thoughts with city clerks about new redistricting laws and their impacts from a communications perspective,” said Nentwig. “The new laws place an even stronger emphasis on public engagement and transparency, with several new specific outreach requirements. It is crucial to start educating California’s city clerks on the new rules and regulations, so they can start preparing now and be ready to adhere to the requirements moving forward”.
