AC Transit Engages Tripepi Smith to Support Redistricting Process

  |   News   |   No comment

AC Transit logoWhen the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) embarked upon its transition to a new seven-ward election system, district staff tapped Wagaman Strategies and Tripepi Smith to assist in the redistricting process.

Taking the lead on outreach was Tripepi Smith Principal Jennifer Nentwig with support from Business Analyst Melanie Moore and Junior Business Analyst Mackenna Morrice. Together, they created social media content, wrote press releases, facilitated community workshops in partnership with Wagaman Strategies and created flyers to effectively inform the community about the process.

“We appreciated having Tripepi Smith on board during the process of redistricting and shifting to a new seven-ward election system,” shared Linda Nemeroff, Board Administrative Officer at AC Transit. “Because this process included the distinct change of adding two all-new wards, it was particularly important for AC Transit to conduct robust public engagement efforts. With Tripepi Smith’s support, AC Transit provided opportunities for all its diverse stakeholders to make their voices heard in the redistricting process.”

The outreach informed community members of the process and encouraged them to participate by sharing communities of interest, drawing maps for the Board’s consideration and ultimately guiding the District to select new ward boundaries that sufficiently represent the needs and people within AC Transit’s jurisdiction.

“Our team is proud to have assisted AC Transit in this process,” added Jennifer. “In the case of AC Transit, their stakeholders are spread throughout multiple cities and unique regions. Working together with staff, our team engaged a variety of resources to increase the breadth and depth of the District’s outreach efforts and ensure all users had the opportunity to participate in the process if desired.”

AC Transit’s Board of Directors adopted an ordinance implementing the transition to a new seven-ward election system in December 2023. To learn more about AC Transit, visit ACTransit.org.
