City of Bellflower Engages Tripepi Smith for Redistricting Outreach
The City of Bellflower has kicked off its effort to redraw boundaries of its five City Council districts, selecting Tripepi Smith as its outreach partner to encourage residents to partake in its redistricting process.
“Bellflower is committed to a thorough, extensive and compliant redistricting process. The City encourages our community to get involved in this effort and share its feedback with our Council and demographer, National Demographics Corporation (NDC),” said Mayra Ochiqui, City Clerk for the City of Bellflower. “Tripepi Smith is a trusted partner for the City and has a record of successful outreach in our community. The City has engaged the top firms in the redistricting space to aid our efforts. We take this process seriously and look forward to hearing from the public.”
Following the 2020 Census, cities with districts (as well as counties, special districts and congressional seats) must re-establish their district boundaries. The boundaries must be adjusted to balance by the latest population Census count. Cities follow federal and state rules governing the redistricting process. 2021 introduced more complexity to the process with the Census data release being delayed due to COVID-19. In California, cities must follow additional guidelines requiring adequate planning and outreach to ensure a compliant redistricting process.

We are partnering with the City’s demographer, NDC, and the City Clerk’s office to deliver on the project,” said President Ryder Todd Smith. “The City is committed to a transparent and educational process that engages the public and ensures a positive outcome. Redistricting in California is going to be a big effort in 2021, and hundreds of agencies are facing the need to redraw their lines. Tripepi Smith will be side-by-side with many of these agencies. ”
Team Tripepi Smith is assisting the City of Bellflower’s outreach process by leveraging the City’s existing communication platforms. The scope includes press releases, flyers, graphic design and social media outreach. Additionally, the City is launching a website dedicated the redistricting process at drawbellflower.org.
