Katherine Griffiths Presents on Strategy and Messaging to APRPREP Cohort

Soon after earning her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), Director Katherine Griffiths was invited to share her insight and knowledge on strategy and messaging with a national APRPREP cohort on July 6.

APRPREP is an online study course that prepares professionals for the APR exam. The course is centered around “Knowledge, Skills and Abilities”, or KSAs, that equip its participants for the public relations profession and to earn their APR. Throughout the course, candidates can meet with APR Facilitators, such as Katherine, to review work and receive feedback and study tips. Katherine became an APR Facilitator after completing an online curriculum including video tutorials, documents and a discussion forum.

“My APRPREP cohort was invaluable, not only providing important coursework and insightful context but also keeping me on task with a regular schedule and benchmarks,” said Katherine. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lend a helping hand to a new group of APR candidates.”

In “Researching, Planning, Implementing and Evaluating Programs: Strategy and Messaging”, Katherine focused on how communication strategies and action strategies differ and how strategies can provide a roadmap to specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-specific (SMART) objectives. She also discussed how strategy guides decision making and audience engagement.

“Katherine has returned to the APR Online Study Course after getting her APR to share her experience and support Accreditation in Public Relations,” said Michael Henry, technical facilitator for the course and e-learning producer for Point Productions.  “Katherine is a great example of the vibrant learning community for continuing professional development, while creating more APRs!”
