On Tuesday, October 6, 2020, the Lomita City Council voted unanimously to support the City Staff recommendation to extend Tripepi Smith’s communication engagement with the City. Tripepi Smith had begun an expanded engagement with the City in November 2019 to help the City outreach to residents about water-related matters in Lomita. The contract extension reflected both the ongoing need for communications with the public and Tripepi Smith’s successful delivery for the City Staff and residents during the prior 11 months.

“Water services are a core function of civilization, and communicating with residents about our drinking water and water infrastructure is a top priority for the City of Lomita. The City Council made a strong investment in water infrastructure and communications over the past year,” said City Manager Ryan Smoot. “Through our work with Tripepi Smith, I’ve seen the City increase our engagement with members of the Lomita community regarding Lomita Water, our current infrastructure and our planned upgrades. The City has stayed ahead of rumors and ensured our community is well-informed with facts”

Led by Director Jen Nentwig with the support of Business Analyst Sara Madsen, the Tripepi Smith team increased proactive communication related to Lomita Water while continuing to deliver ongoing environmental outreach and support. From November 2019 to October 2020, Tripepi Smith created and launched new communication initiatives including explainer videos about the Lomita Water System and the Granular Activated Carbon project, water bill inserts, email news alerts informing residents of www.LomitaWater.com updates, and a first-of-its kind digital Lomita Water Consumer Confidence Report.

“It is an honor to continue supporting the City of Lomita and their commitment to communicating with residents about their water and where it comes from,” said Jen. “The Tripepi Smith team brings a unique mix of communication expertise, public policy understanding, and experience handling water issues. We look forward to continuing our work with the City of Lomita and continuing to advance their water-related outreach and engagement.”
