Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary with Tripepi Smith Produced Marketing Materials
In September 2022, Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy (PRIME), an associate member of the California Choice Energy Authority (CalChoice), called on Tripepi Smith to help create a series of promotional materials to celebrate PRIME’s five-year anniversary.
PRIME is the City of Pico Rivera’s locally managed public energy service and is one of twenty-five community choice aggregation programs in California.
“Over the past five years, PRIME has offered clean power alternatives and resource conservation while helping Pico Rivera residents and businesses save on energy costs,” said Erik Lutz, Pico Rivera’s Mayor. “We are proud of PRIME’s impact in our community and were impressed with Tripepi Smith’s ability to deliver engaging and informative content to share with our residential and commercial customers.”
The Tripepi Smith team created several work products leading up to PRIME’s anniversary. Creative Director Kevin Bostwick designed a new logo for the CCA, specifically to celebrate the occasion. The composite logo is highly complex, enveloping PRIME’s logo within a framework that includes an oversized numeral five and an anniversary banner, as well as a Pico Rivera cityscape, a sunburst and a new slogan: A Strong Foundation for a Bright Future. Kevin incorporated a new, dark-blue accent color to complement PRIME’s traditional yellow and bright blue palette.
Business Analyst Charlie Mounts and Junior Business Analyst John Balliet directed and produced a four-minute video showcasing PRIME’s program developments and accomplishments over the past five years. The video featured Pico Rivera’s 2022 Mayor, Councilmembers and other city staff who shared updates about customer cost savings and general program benefits for the community.
Finally, Senior Business Analysts Karen Villasenor and Sara Madsen joined forces to compile a robust five-year report that includes details about energy procurement statistics, new partnerships and awards, as well as a road map for PRIME’s goals in the next five years. Beginning with a message from the Pico Rivera City Council that thanks community members for their participation, the eight-page document celebrates key accomplishments and statistics—including more than $1 million in savings on energy generation costs as compared to Southern California Edison—and highlights community programs such as streetlight acquisitions and LED conversions, solar and battery storage options and transportation electrification and greenhouse gas reduction. The report, beautifully designed by Sara, also showcases PRIME’s external recognition and awards received from the Southern California Association of Governments, California Contract Cities Association, Gateway Cities Council of Governments and SoCal Gas, all in the areas of sustainability, climate resilience and environmental stewardship.
“Tripepi Smith’s partnership with CalChoice and its associate members goes back to April 2017,” said Karen. “It’s always a pleasure to help promote and celebrate CCAs in California and we enjoyed working with the Pico Rivera team to bring attention to this important milestone.”
