Tripepi Smith has produced an award recognition video honoring this year’s Beacon Award Program winners for the Institute for Local Government. The video was initially shown on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the League of California Cities 2017 Annual Conference in Sacramento.

The award video features photos and videos submitted by the award-winning local public agencies, which include City of Sacramento, City of Scotts Valley, City of Fremont, City of Foster City, City of Claremont, City of Hayward, City of San Carlos and City of Palo Alto. The video highlights steps these cities took toward forming healthier, more sustainable communities.

“By offering local governments a chance to be recognized for their achievements in sustainability, the Beacon Award Program is helping to create a greener California,” said Karalee Browne, Program Manager for the Sustainable Communities Program at the Institute for Local Government. “Tripepi Smith has a history of working on projects like this with League of California Cities, so it was a natural fit to work with Ryder and his team on this project. They did a fantastic job, and we plan on putting their skills to work for ILG in the future.”

Established by ILG in 2009, the Beacon Award Program honors local governments’ voluntary efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save energy and adopt policies that promote sustainability. Based on level of achievement, participants can earn silver, gold or platinum Beacon Spotlight Awards in five categories: Agency Greenhouse Gas Reduction, Energy Savings, Natural Gas Savings, Best Practice Activities and Community Greenhouse Gas Reductions. When a participating city reaches milestones in all five categories, it is awarded the prestigious Beacon Award.

Tripepi Smith provided project management, video editing, voiceover services and graphics to fulfil the project in a tight timeframe for ILG. The project was led by Saara Lampwalla, Junior Business Analyst, and edited by Eric Hood, Videographer.

“The Institute for Local Government is a significant resource for public agencies throughout California. I have enjoyed reading their white papers and learning from the staff over the years. Recently, Tripepi Smith started supporting ILG as a sponsor. This award video project was yet another great partnership opportunity and gave the team at Tripepi Smith a chance to further collaborate with the team at ILG,” said Ryder Todd Smith, President of Tripepi Smith. “We were thrilled that the ILG team called on us to create this video and tell the stories of success that the Beacon Award inspires every year.”
