Kizh Nation Video PictureThe City of Jurupa Valley tapped Tripepi Smith to create a video highlighting its Kizh Nation Preservation Development project

“We wanted a video that not only honored the Kizh Nation and its beauty, but highlighted the development project, our partnership with the Kizh Nation and showcased the importance of preserving the Jurupa Oak for our community,” said Monique Claude, Communications and Marketing Manager for the City. “We trusted Tripepi Smith with this task, and they went above and beyond, combining moving testimonies of the important history of the Kizh Nation and our commitment as a City to preserving the oldest living organism in California.”

Tripepi Smith’s Cailyn Thompson and Kaitlyn Wu developed questions for the interviewees, with visual and editing support by Videographers Nolan Voge and Josh Hernandez. The three-minute video showcases the landscape of Jurupa Valley’s Kizh Nation, as well as snippets of interviews and testimonies from Kizh Nation members on the initiative. This project is a joint effort between the City and the Kizh Nation to protect the culture of the tribe while also introducing amenities for residents. This includes housing, a school and new business opportunities that preserve and honor the land.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this important and impactful effort by Jurupa Valley to honor and preserve its history,” said Cailyn. “Our team enjoyed collaborating with the City to highlight the Kizh’s rich history, culture and the inspiring initiatives they’re undertaking to preserve and grow the Jurupa Valley community.”
