Team TS Supports the Cal Cities City Clerks Seminar and Shares Insights on Redistricting in 2021
Tripepi Smith sponsored the League of California Cities (Cal Cities) virtual City Clerks New Law and Elections Seminar. President Ryder Todd Smith and Junior Business Analyst Bryn Miller attended the sessions and sponsor breaks on December 17 and 18, 2020.
To stay up to date on the issues clerks are facing, Bryn attended the conference Zoom sessions “Police Records and the Public Records Act” and “The Rules for 2021 Redistricting Changed Again.” These trainings provided insight into new disclosure requirements, the nuances of the Public Records Act and the changes made due to AB 849 and AB 1276.
“The 2020 Census will trigger a wave of redistricting in 2021. With 2021 now here, it’s essential that local governments understand the new rules for redistricting,” said Bryn. “National Demographics Corporation and Nielsen Merksamer, two of our key partners in our redistricting work, provided a helpful summary of what’s changed this cycle in their session at the conference. Tripepi Smith is looking forward to applying the insights we gained from the conference to our client work over the coming months.”
Tripepi Smith hosted two sponsor breaks during Thursday’s programming, partnering with Nielsen Merksamer and National Demographics Corporation (NDC). Ryder joined fellow redistricting experts Chris Skinnell from Nielsen Merksamer and Douglas Johnson and Shalice Tilton from NDC to discuss the new rules for 2021 and what it takes to successfully implement this process with conference attendees. The sessions included time to ask questions and a game of trivia. Nearly 60 conference attendees joined the two sessions, demonstrating significant interest and awareness of the need to execute redistricting in 2021.”
