paramount-city-logoAt a presentation to the Paramount City Council on September 20, 2016, Tripepi Smith delivered its final report and recommendations for communications and public engagement for the City of Paramount. The presentation and related Communications Assessment report were the culmination of four months of work to help the City better understand and improve its outreach to residents of the City.

“The City has long recognized the importance of trying to reach out and educate the public about our challenges and victories as a community. Paramount engaged Tripepi Smith because we felt there was even more we could do, and we wanted the expertise and viewpoints of a third-party who could ask great questions and drive us to the next level,” said John Moreno, City Manager for the City of Paramount. “The report’s observations and recommendations were insightful and innovative, and our team is excited to take action to further improve communications with our community.”

At nearly 70 pages, the report documented the details of each department’s efforts with regard to communications and documented baseline activities. Much of the information was gathered over a week-long onsite engagement that saw Tripepi Smith interview over 40 people, including Councilmembers, City Staff, residents and key community partners. Tripepi Smith’s scope included a lightweight brand assessment to generally determine how the Council and Staff understood and defined the City’s brand both internally and to the outside world.

“The Council and Staff in Paramount are committed to improving their community, and history has shown that when Paramount residents are informed and unite, it can change the course of history and create a brighter future. We found a City Staff who were hard at work consistently delivering communication and exploring new platforms to connect with the younger than average population,” said Ryder Todd Smith, President of Tripepi Smith. “Yet, the most striking feature of Paramount is the duration and stability of both Council and Staff. There is immense institutional knowledge within the team at City Hall and it is used every day to help advance the City.”
