Tripepi Smith Creates Virtual Tour of Claremont Police Station

The City of Claremont has a new tool to educate its residents about the conditions of the City’s 40-year-old police station. Tripepi Smith was hired to deliver a short video for online distribution that succinctly outlined the challenges of the long-lived building that houses the City’s police department. The video is now featured on the City’s website and will be shared at community meetings and in other public formats.

The goal of the video was to take viewers on a behind the scenes tour of the police station that includes the jail, evidence rooms, locker facilities, climate control systems, technology systems and dispatch center. Narrated by Claremont Police Chief Paul Cooper, the video notes key concerns, such as:

  • Seismic risks associated with the concrete block construction

  • Lack of ADA compliance

  • Old jail facilities that would not meet today’s Department of Justice standards

  • Overflowing evidence rooms

  • Lack of proper facilities to accommodate both men and women staff/officers

  • Old electric infrastructures that put today’s policing technologies at risk

“Tripepi Smith has a strong history of helping public agencies communicate with residents through web technologies, printed collateral, social media, photography and video. As our partner in this project, Tripepi Smith co-wrote the script, produced the footage, edited the video and incorporated our feedback,” said Bevin Handel, Public Information Officer for the City of Claremont. “Working with Tripepi Smith on this video project was simple and turnkey. The result is an informative, visually compelling video that hits the major points of concern residents need to know about their police station.”

“Having lived in Claremont for several years, production of this video was a bit of a homecoming for me. It is a quiet, safe community of trees and degrees with a police force dedicated to keeping it safe,” said Ryder Todd Smith, President at Tripepi Smith. “The Chief and his staff were committed to the project and demonstrated a passion for their profession and serving the community.”

Delivery of this video for Claremont extends Tripepi Smith’s experience working with public agencies to tell their story via video. Other public agencies and local government non-profits that have benefitted from Tripepi Smith video production work include: City of La Cañada Flintridge, City of Livermore, Municipal Management Association of Northern California, and the California City Management Foundation.
