Southern California Edison (SCE), the largest investor-owned utility in California, has hired Karalee Darnell, former Senior Business Analyst with Tripepi Smith. Karalee will be a Government Affairs Representative.

“My time at Tripepi Smith has been highly rewarding. The breadth of clients has given me an opportunity to work with some great people across southern California, and I will miss both the team and the clients I have gotten to know so well,” said Karalee. “Choosing to leave Tripepi Smith was a difficult decision, but the chance to work with SCE was not one I could pass up.”

A Senior Business Analyst with Tripepi Smith for nearly three years, Karalee grew her client portfolio extensively with projects spanning websites, city newsletters, media relations and branding. Her work contributed significantly to the growth of Tripepi Smith as it nearly doubled in size since she joined the firm.

“I am really proud of Karalee and all she has accomplished for our clients and her own career development. While losing her talent on our team is a loss, I am personally excited for her and wish her well in her new role. As an added bonus, we still get to see her on the local government circuit,” said Ryder Todd Smith, President at Tripepi Smith. “Given the quality talent at our firm, it is not surprising that other local government entities will take an interest in the people who work at Tripepi Smith. A change like this reaffirms that we are doing something right.”

Coming off its third straight year of aggressive growth, Tripepi Smith recently announced the hiring of Katherine Griffiths as a Director at the firm. Katherine will be taking on an array of client responsibilities including several of Karalee’s accounts. Additionally, Caroline Lee will join the firm in early December.

“Tripepi Smith is committed to top quality service for every client and that means adding talent to stay ahead of our steep demand curve. The addition of Katherine and Caroline will put us in position to fill in the loss of Karalee’s talent while expanding our capacity to support our clients,” concluded Ryder.
