Tripepi Smith’s Always-Be-Learning (#ABL) culture drives us to stay up to speed on constantly changing social media platforms. This knowledge empowers our team to track, interpret and adapt to the latest and greatest social media trends on behalf of the public agencies we serve. The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:

  1. Threads has hit over 175 million monthly active users, and shared two notable insights. Users have been utilizing the Topic Tags feature, with more than 50 million tags created to date. Additionally, 63% of Threads posts are text-only, as images and video largely dominate engagement in other apps. Threads plans to keep this data in mind when rolling out new features.
  2. Facebook is testing out “Clear Mode for app users. Clear Mode gives users the option to hide the description and buttons on Reels clips, allowing for a less obstructed viewing experience. Facebook hopes this will make it easier for users to both watch Reels in full and see all of the video’s text or image elements.
  3. YouTube is slowly rolling out its new Community Spaces feature. Community Spaces, currently in beta testing, will serve as an outlet for subscribers to view text-like update posts from their favorite channels. Youtube hopes this will generate increased engagement and interaction within the app.
  4. YouTube is also rolling out a variety of new creative options in Shorts. The platform’s Auto Layout feature automatically crops your video to ensure the best viewing experience, Text-to-Speech allows for automated audio narration; and customizable Auto-Generated Captions will give content creators more creative control.
  5. LinkedIn is giving more users access to its Acceleratecampaigns feature. Accelerate uses AI to fully automate ad campaign creation, from utilizing Microsoft Designer to create engaging content, to offering advice with the help of the platform’s virtual marketing assistant.  LinkedIn hopes this will increase campaign efficiency.
