Tripepi Smith’s Always-Be-Learning (#ABL) culture drives us to stay up to speed on constantly changing social media platforms. This knowledge empowers our team to track, interpret and adapt to the latest and greatest social media trends on behalf of the public agencies we serve. The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:

  1. YouTube is expanding its generative AI tools for Shorts creators, adding new features directly into the Shorts composer to enhance their content. Using Google Veo AI, creators will be able to choose from a variety of new backgrounds and other editing features to create new, unique content.
  2. Also from YouTube is the option of audio replies to comments. This new update will enable channel administrators to respond to comments under their videos with up to 30-second voice clips.
  3. Google is introducing new AI updates to its Performance Max campaigns. Notably, the enhanced image generation for human characters brings tailored recommendations for the most effective images for advertisers.
  4. Instagram is testing new comment features, including a “dislike” button, to gather more signals for downranking comments that users find overly negative or harmful to their in-app experience. The platform hopes it will help address harmful remarks and create a “more friendly” environment in the app.
  5. LinkedIn has fine-tuned its ad targeting and attribution tools to help marketers reach the right audiences more effectively. These changes also aim to improve ROI measurement for its paid ad campaigns.
