The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:

  1. Nextdoor announced the launch of Nextdoor Ads. The new feature will make it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to reach Nextdoor users through in-app promotions.
  2. YouTube is rolling out a new “Search Insights” feature for all creators. The update will provide creators with useful data to improve post strategies based on user searches. Creators can view topics of interest and identify common search terms.
  3. YouTube and TikTok have added new options to encourage the adoption of automated captions within videos. YouTube’s update will allow creators to outsource the creation and editing of subtitles to third parties. TikTok is also improving content accessibility by assigning English language auto-captions as the default for all uploads.
  4. Twitter is testing a new feature that will allow users to edit prior posts. The update could present issues if a user retweets a post that is later edited by the original creator.
  5. Instagram has recently changed the editing process within the Reels composer. The update will make it easier for users to delete, trim and reorder clips with just a few taps.
