Skylar Hunter Earns Drone Pilot License
Business Analyst Skylar Hunter has become the second member of the Tripepi Smith team (Saara Lampwalla was first) to achieve a commercial drone operator license. Skylar passed the Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 107 Remote Pilot License Exam on February 28, 2020. The remote pilot certificate demonstrates an understanding of FAA regulations, operating requirements and procedures for safely flying drones in city, rural and busy airspace.
“Drone Piloting is as much a science as creating and capturing stunning imagery is an art,” said Skylar. “Drone footage has the ability to display the natural beauty of a city and provide a perspective that was previously only available to big budget Hollywood film productions. This is a dynamic and awesome skill to have and offer our clients, because we can provide that perspective and create uniquely compelling content to complement their needs. With this license, I further expand the teams skillset at Tripepi Smith helping clients get the highest quality, dynamic imagery without any of the compliance risks.”
To prepare for the exam, Skylar completed an extensive unmanned aerial systems (UAS)/drone remote pilot test prep course designed to create proficient remote pilots. The program covered topics, including FAA airspace regulations, traffic patterns, weather theory, emergency procedures and more.
“At Tripepi Smith we pride ourselves on offering the extra ‘it’ factor for our clients whether it is the proverbial birds eye perspective from a camera in the sky or compelling graphic design. We will continue to grow in quantity and quality of skills we have to offer,” said Ryder Todd Smith, president of Tripepi Smith. “I am proud of the work Skylar put in earning his remote pilot license and look forward to him collaborating with our clients to achieve stunning footage of their cities or projects.”
Tripepi Smith fields a Mavic Pro drone offering 4k stabilized video to aid in its video production and photography services. Moving forward, Skylar will work with Saara Lampwalla, another Tripepi Smith drone operator, to play a key role in Tripepi Smith’s branch of drone services, MuniAerial.
