The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG), a joint powers authority dedicated to improving the quality of life in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, turned to Tripepi Smith to provide an express communications assessment with the objective of improving its communications strategy.

“The assessment Tripepi Smith produced gave us a detailed look into our entire organization and helped us consider areas that would significantly improve our communications strategy,” said Jacki Bacharach, Executive Director of SBCCOG. “This report provided an important foundation and starting point to help our team better serve our members, the South Bay Cities.”

As part of the process to develop the assessment, Tripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith facilitated an onsite discussion with the SBCCOG executive staff and then a second session with the broader team to discuss the current SBCCOG communication platforms, their goals and the strengths and weaknesses of existing processes.

Following these discussions, the Tripepi Smith team produced a holistic analysis of SBCCOG’s current communication channels as well as an assessment that outlined specific actionable recommendations, general categories in need of improvement and potential next steps. These recommendations covered a number of possible areas for improvement including local media relations, branding, digital platforms, editorial planning and more.

“The South Bay Cities Council of Governments is dedicated to helping their cities advance the lives of people in South Los Angeles County and is already doing so through several of their communications channels,” said Ryder. “It is evident that the entire SBCCOG team is extremely knowledgeable and passionate, and I’m glad we could help identify a way forward with telling their story.”

Tripepi Smith has delivered communications assessments numerous cities, including the City of Indian Wells, the City of Paramount, the City of Cupertino, the City of La Puente, the Town of Windsor, the City of Norwalk, the City of Morgan Hill, the City of Culver City, the City of Duarte and the City of Livermore.
