The City of San Leandro Called on Tripepi Smith for Assistance in Soft Rebrand
In May 2021, the City of San Leandro enlisted Tripepi Smith to assist with the redesign of their website as part of their soft rebrand project. A soft rebrand can lead to structural and user experience improvements, and these visual updates can create a more engaging website. These soft rebrand projects provide public agencies with the opportunity to test drive a new look in the digital environment.
“In San Leandro, we believe it is important that our web design and UX reflects our vibrant, forward-looking City,” said Communications and Community Relations Manager Paul Sanftner. “Tripepi Smith helped us work with the community to set a new creative vision for this high priority project and design a web identity graphic as unique as San Leandro. I was amazed by Tripepi Smith’s quick turnaround response as I provided them with a short notice project deadline.”
Art Director Kevin Bostwick led the effort, which included designing a color palette and a web graphic with the City’s internal web-redesign team and IT departments, creating mood boards with different color options and several logo explorations, and delivering a formal presentation to the San Leandro Arts Commission and City Council.
“San Leandro was working with their web host to make their site more functional and user-friendly,” said Kevin. “The City realized this was also the time to improve the site’s appearance. The City understands that a more profound City-wide rebrand is likely in their future, but was able to seize the opportunity for a soft web rebrand.”
