Tripepi Smith President Appointed to League Policy Committee

Tripepi Smith President & Co-Founder Ryder Todd SmithTripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith has been appointed to the League of California Cities Governance, Transparency and Labor Relations (GTLR) Policy Committee. As a League Partner, Ryder was appointed to provide his insights and expertise from his professional work in local government to aid policy considerations by elected official members of the Policy Committee. The appointment is a non-voting position and will see Ryder participate in four committee meetings throughout the year.

“I am honored to have been appointed to this critical committee that addresses policy issues from the Brown Act to PERS liabilities. With over 50 cities in our portfolio of client work, I have seen a lot of challenges from diverse cities. I hope that experience will prove valuable to the members of the GTLR Policy Committee,” stated Ryder. “Cities are at the epicenter of civilization in California, and it is important the the policy work of the League’s committee are successful in guiding the State to good outcomes.”

The League has seven standing policy committees: Community Services; Governance, Transparency and Labor Relations; Environmental Quality; Housing, Community and Economic Development; Public Safety; Revenue and Taxation; and Transportation, Communications and Public Works. These committees evaluate proposed legislation as it relates to existing policy and make recommendations for legislation where the League currently does not have policy.

The League’s policy-making process provides a platform to debate the issues facing California cities and direction to the organization with policy recommendations. More than 400 city officials serve on the League’s policy committees and add their collective expertise, wisdom, and opinions to the policy debate that is the foundation of League policy. The recommendations from the policy committees are forwarded to the League board of directors.
