Jon Presents to Local Government Leaders at Stanford LGSI
2019 marked the third year in a row Tripepi Smith has been invited to present at Stanford’s Local Governance Summer Institute (LGSI). This year, Tripepi Smith Director Jon Barilone co-presented on a “Civic Engagement, Technology & Strategy” panel and spoke about the role social media plays in 21st-century civic engagement.
The LGSI @ Stanford is an annual, week-long seminar where approximately 25 Western U.S. local government leaders learn from subject matter experts and go on educational field trips to deepen their knowledge and decision-making skills. Jon spoke on a panel with:
- Brian Moura – Assistant City Manager, Retired
- William Cooley – Director of Civic Programs, Common Knowledge
- Christina Gilmore – Assistant to City Manager, City of Mountain View
Jon’s presentation also pointed LGSI participants to Tripepi Smith’s free Social Media Planning Template and the “105 Free Social Media Content Ideas” Insights article.
“In these opportunities to share with local government leaders, we try to demonstrate what’s possible with modern technology. For example: there were a lot of excited questions about live video streaming public meetings on Facebook,” said Jon. “Thank you to Brian Moura, Blas Perez and the rest of the Stanford Local Governance Summer Institute for making Tripepi Smith a regular part of your program! We look forward to coming back in 2020 with even more insights.”
