Jon Barilone Presents to Southern California Public Works Institute
Tripepi Smith director Jon Barilone presented at the Southern California Public Works Institute on October 22, 2019. The presentation discussed ‘Digital Marketing Relations’ and covered a wide array of topics including: why attendees should embrace social media, how to create good digital media content, photography tips, the best social platforms for agencies to use, and how to interact within these social media platforms.
SoCal APWA Public Works Institute Committee released a statement about Tripepi Smith’s involvement: “Tripepi Smith really stepped up to help our public works audience better understand social media and how the platform can help us distribute information to the public. Jon concluded his presentation with a class exercise: creating Twitter posts in an emergency situation. Table groups were given a hypothetical scenario–a main street flooding because of sewer blockage–and just a few short minutes to craft a Twitter response to concerned residents. Groups read their responses aloud, emphasizing some of the best practices Jon had shared during the presentation.

We were glad to share some tips and best practices to help these public servants connect more with their communities.”
Jon’s presentation was part of a three-day conference held by the American Public Works Association’s Southern California Chapter at the Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey.
