City of Hawaiian GardensTripepi Smith submitted a proposal to the City of Hawaiian Gardens in March 2018 responding to an RFP seeking communications support. The proposal outlined Tripepi Smith’s approach to communication/marketing outreach reform, included samples of prior work for various clients, references, and information about the firm. The City of Hawaiian Gardens hired Tripepi Smith in May 2018.

“Hawaiian Gardens is on the rise with a stable government and a focus on infrastructure fundamentals and sustainable community programs. Crime is down from prior years and the The Gardens Casino has made a massive investment to greatly expand its programming and entertainment,” said Tripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith. “The City has progress to talk about with its residents and the entire County of Los Angeles. This is not the Hawaiian Gardens of 30 years ago, and that is a direct result of the City and community’s investment in its youth.”

Tripepi Smith created two phases in which the firm would enhance the effectiveness of the City’s communications. In phase one, Tripepi Smith evaluated the city’s current tools and platforms used to execute its communications. In order to do this, Tripepi Smith reviewed key data and metrics and briefly interviewed key City staff. The findings from these interviews and metrics led to a series of customized recommendations on how to improve communications in the City.

In the second phase, potential communication needs identified by city staff were reviewed by Tripepi Smith, who now offers supports the city with press releases, city branding, content creation, social media management, graphic design and more.

“The City Council and Staff worked hard over the years to improve quality of life, city programs and the city’s infrastructure. Slow and steady wins the race, and that has been key to the community experiencing year-over-year improvements,” said Hawaiian Gardens City Manager Ernie Hernandez. “Hiring Tripepi Smith is about focusing our outreach efforts on our residents while also evolving our outward image to the rest of Los Angeles.”
