League of California CitiesTripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith is scheduled to speak at the League of California Cities (LoCC) City Managers Department Meeting in San Diego.

Ryder will join Malibu City Manager Reva Feldman, Santa Barbara Communication Manager Gina DePinto and Municipal Water District of Orange County Emergency Manager Kelly Hubbard to discuss a pressing subject of California cities: emergency communications during natural disasters.

The group’s session titled “Major Incident Communications: Technical Solutions, Political Risks, and Community Information,” will take place from 2:15-3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019.

The panel will share their best practices, trusted resources, observations and lessons learned when it comes to communicating with stakeholders in the face of natural disasters. The talk will also explore the climate of emergencies with regard to politics, public relations risk, societal challenges, hurdles created by Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and panelist experiences.

“This topic is especially near to all California city manager, councilmember and staff hearts. The insights of each panelist will add value to the ongoing discussions about emergency communications across our cities,” said Ryder. “Gatherings like the City Managers Department Meeting are an integral part of the education and growth of our cities and communities. And discussion from lessons learned in the trenches on an issue such as emergency communications is ultimately vital to the health and safety of California residents. I am honored to contribute and look forward to joining everyone for this and other important conversations in San Diego.”

A team of five Tripepi Smith associates will join Ryder in San Diego for the three-day conference. The marketing-technology-public affairs firm will also co-host a sponsor dinner with fourteen other firms that provide for the local government space.
