As part of Tripepi Smith’s ongoing contract with the City of Cupertino, Tripepi Smith delivered the City’s annual Budget at a Glance (BaaG) report to aid the City’s transparency and resident engagement efforts. Tripepi Smith Graphic Designers Kjerstin Wingert and Bria Balliet created the report for the second consecutive year and distilled down complex information into digestible content that conveyed the City’s financial information.

Two versions of the report, one in English and one in Mandarin, were distributed by the City.

“After helping the City establish and roll out its new brand and style in 2017, it is always exciting to return for additional projects and implement the brand into important communications,” said Kjerstin. “Working on Cupertino’s BAAG for the second year gave us a chance to refine and improve upon last year’s result – going from good to great. The team at Tripepi Smith understands these intricate financial matters and that helps us ensure the City’s financial status is clearly conveyed each year.”

The final product features a bold and colorful front page to entice residents to view the publication while utilizing deep reds and dark blues from the City’s brand to guide the reader across the eight-page report. Forest green, pale blues, light yellows and salmon colors are used to decorate the pages with informative graphics and easy-to-understand charts to effectively tell the story of the City’s budget and revenue for FY 2019-2020.

“The City always strives to be as transparent with our constituents as possible, especially when it comes to our budget and how the City’s dollars are used to fund community objectives,” said Cupertino Finance Manager Zach Korach. “The team at Tripepi Smith was extremely communicative throughout the entire project, which made this process as smooth as possible. We continue to partner with Tripepi Smith because we know we will receive phenomenal products and insights.”

Tripepi Smith was tapped by Cupertino in February 2018 to produce a monthly newsletter and recently extended the contract through June 2020. The Tripepi Smith team provides graphic design services and layout for each newsletter, as well as custom artwork when needed, in addition to ad hoc projects such as the 2018 Budget at a Glance, Style Guide and Climate Action Plan.FY201920BAAGEnglish
