Tripepi Smith Creates Recreation Guides for Culver City

While the City of Culver City has been a long-term client of marketing-technology-public affairs firm Tripepi Smith, working directly with the City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCS) is new.

An expanded engagement between Tripepi Smith and the City via PRCS began in November 2018, when PRCS staff called upon Tripepi Smith to help create the Winter 2018-19 edition of its quarterly recreation guide, Culver City Living. The guide consists of over 30 pages showcasing the City’s wealth of recreational offerings. After a successful redesign, Tripepi Smith laid out the Spring 2019 edition and will assist with the Summer 2019 issue as well.

“Culver City genuinely cares about serving its residents and making sure the public knows about all the resources and services they can take advantage of. Culver City Living is a crucial part of the PRCS outreach, so enhancing the design is a big win,” said Jon Barilone, director for Tripepi Smith. “We always appreciate the opportunity to support Culver City’s staff. They are a pleasure to work with, and we’re glad they feel the same about the Tripepi Smith team.”

Graphic Designer and Photographer Kjerstin Nichter guided the project forward, with instrumental graphic design support from Business Analysts/Graphic Designers Melanie James and Bria Balliet.

“This was a comprehensive project that involved working with PRCS staff to ensure the design did justice to the City’s programming. Together, we successfully addressed the challenge of making an incredible amount of information digestible, easy to navigate and universally accessible for readers,” said Kjerstin, who led design on the projects. “I really commend the City’s desire to make their entire recreational guide universally accessible. It was important to them that this redesign was not only easier to navigate for the average reader but also for the seeing impaired. It was evident in our work together that they put the needs of the entire community as a top priority.”
