Tripepi Smith League of California Cities City Managers Department MeetingA team of six Tripepi Smith associates will travel to San Diego for the League of California Cities City Managers Department Meeting from February 13-15.

The attendance of the team, consisting of President Ryder Todd Smith, Director Jon Barilone, Director of Operations Katherine Griffiths, Business Analyst Bria Balliet and Junior Business Analysts Saara Lampwalla and Karen Villaseñor, is a testament to Tripepi Smith’s priority to stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the city manager community.

“The new California normal in 2019 entails an even more divided public swayed by populist influences amplified by social media. We have also seen an exploding demand for emergency services and public alerts to meet the increased fire risks resulting from drought and wildland-urban interfaces. This is a volatile environment and it requires an ongoing dialogue with communities and a battle to assert facts where innuendo and half-truths are leveraged to undermine reasonable planning,” said Ryder. “More than ever, the Tripepi Smith team finds ourselves ‘in the room’ with city leaders and staff having conversations about communications and strategies. City managers are key to channeling change for the health and well-being of our communities, and Tripepi Smith is ready to help them succeed.”

Ryder will partake in a discussion on emergency communications with Malibu City Manager Reva Feldman and Santa Barbara County Communications Manager Gina DePinto. The trio’s panel, “Major Incident Communications: Technical Solutions, Political Risks, and Community Information,” will be from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14.
