Clay Lacy imageAviation Company Awarded 35-Year Lease to Operate at John Wayne Airport

In November 2019, Clay Lacy Aviation called on Tripepi Smith to support the development of proposals to be submitted to the County of Orange in response to a RFQ for fixed base operators at John Wayne Airport.

Tripepi Smith assisted in writing, designing and producing the proposals, submitting the final products in December 2019. The Orange County Board of Supervisors later selected Clay Lacy Aviation as a winner of its RFP, awarding the company a 35-year lease at the airport.

“Working with Tripepi Smith was a delight, and my team and I are ecstatic about the results,” said Scott Cutshall, senior vice president of Clay Lacy Aviation. “Tripepi Smith was responsive; providing outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, creativity and a commitment to telling the story of Clay Lacy Aviation, and how our experience and services benefit the OC community.”

Tripepi Smith Senior Business Analyst Jen Nentwig led the effort, with support from Art Director Kevin Bostwick. The team gathered research from Clay Lacy’s subject matter experts, crafted a narrative, created custom visual details and oversaw the production and printing of the materials–all while continuously cross-referencing the County’s RFP to ensure every requirement was addressed.

“I’m so proud that Tripepi Smith had the opportunity to play a part in Clay Lacy’s win with John Wayne Airport,” Jen said. “From the minute I started working with them, I sensed Clay Lacy’s pioneering culture and their excitement to build something truly special in Orange County. It was a pleasure helping them tell their story through the proposal development process.”

Team Tripepi Smith assisted in the development of two separate proposals, one for each potential site at John Wayne Airport, which doubled the workload and required significant organizational skills to collect and assemble work product from several departments and suppliers. As a fixed base operator, Clay Lacy will provide aviation services including aircraft  fueling, ground handling, parking and storage, flight training, aircraft management, charter and maintenance services to general aviation aircraft.
