City of Napa Calls on Tripepi Smith to Aid Budget Education and Outreach Challenges

In May, the City of Napa called on Tripepi Smith to lead their communications efforts specifically regarding the City’s budget. The City requested that Tripepi Smith create informative and easy-to-digest materials for the community regarding recent impacts to the City’s 2020-21 budget as a result of COVID-19. Tripepi Smith also helped strategize tactics for enhanced media relations and internal communications to City staff.

“Team Tripepi Smith was an enormous help with our resident outreach,” said Napa City Manager Steve Potter. “The team understood the sensitivity of the situation and delivered visually appealing and educational communication tools for our residents. Because of Tripepi Smith, we were able to effectively explain the fiscal challenges our City is facing due to COVID-19 as well as assure residents of our plans to address them.”

Director Jon Barilone, Art Director Kevin Bostwick and Senior Business Analyst Bria Balliet worked closely with the City Manager’s and Finance Offices to conceptualize the most effective communication tools for the City’s residents, settling on a package of resources that centered around a detailed infographic. Once the infographic was finalized, the team built out a dedicated budget webpage and FAQ page to provide more context and details, and translated all the critical information into an animated video. Finally, the team broke up the infographic elements into individual social media images that ran as a month-long educational campaign. The intention was to provide the information via multiple avenues so there would be an accessible option for as many community members as possible.

“Napa’s desire to frequently communicate with their residents and employees during challenging circumstances points to the City’s dedication to their community,” said Jon. “We were happy to assist the City in its efforts to keep its different audiences updated in this ever-evolving environment.”
