MuniTech Academya joint venture between Tripepi Smith and the Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC) — has successfully completed 2 courses in the first quarter of 2016 with a full schedule of summer courses ahead. These training opportunities are geared toward Information Technology and Information Security professionals who work for public agencies throughout the state.

In March, MuniTech Academy ran a 5-day ‘Boot Camp’ for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®) with the exam on the 6th day. Eight MISAC members from throughout California took advantage of the training in Diamond Bar, led by instructor John Warsinske. The globally recognized CISSP® certification is ideal for those who engineer, implement and/or manage their organization’s overall InfoSec program. The next CISSP® Boot Camp will be held in Northern California later this year.

“Overall, the training was very helpful to me, the facilities were great, the catering perfect and the fellow IT professionals in the class were top notch,” said Jeremy Salas, IT Coordinator for the City of Victorville. “I picked up a lot of helpful knowledge and explored topics I would probably not encounter in my daily job. The key thing is that I returned to my city better prepared to help secure our technology platforms.”

From April 26-28, MuniTech Academy conducted a sold-out Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) Certification Boot Camp (the third sold-out class since starting in May 2015). This training took place virtually/online, saving these public agencies valuable budget and resources. For this class, 17 students from California and Nevada underwent three full days of interactive training and quizzes in preparation for the ITIL® Foundation certification. Later in 2016, MuniTech Academy will offer more advanced ITIL® training that draws on lessons learned from the ITIL® Foundation training.

“We set out with three goals in mind at MISAC: provide top-quality educational opportunities for our members; ensure the lowest prices in the market to save cities and taxpayers money; and provide a consistent stream of learning opportunities to address the dynamic world of IT. Our joint venture with Tripepi Smith is delivering on those goals and helping IT pros throughout the state,” said MISAC Education Chair Brian Lewton. “Tripepi Smith’s marketing know-how, combined with our training partnerships and expanding membership base, has led to some great results. Selling out classes is a good problem to solve and proof that IT pros across the state are taking notice of MISAC’s expert instructors and ridiculously low prices.”

The summer schedule kicks off in June via two back-to-back training opportunities with world-renowned Windows expert Mark Minasi. From June 6-7, Mark will instruct students in how to manage Windows 10 and the ins-and-outs of how it differs from Windows 8. From June 8-9, Mark will lead a more intimate, hands-on class on Windows PowerShell and Active Directory. Please visit www.munitechacademy.org if you are interested in learning more and registering. These opportunities are open to the public, so please feel free to share this news with your peer networks!
