Social media moves quickly. So quickly in fact, that if someone can’t share your content with a click or two, they will likely move on to the next shiny object that catches their attention and forget all about you.

Enter tweetables.

Tweetables are a great way to make sharing easy. There are two major benefits to using them. 1. The person tweeting your content doesn’t even have to compose their tweet. They simply click and share. 2. You get to craft the message that goes out for them. To see an example, click here to share this article on Twitter.

See how easy that was? You clicked once to see the tweet, and once to approve it. What could be easier? And we got to craft the tweet so that it mentions our Twitter handle, and links directly to our article. It’s a 21st century win-win.

So how can you do this for your own site?

Step 1: Decide what webpage you want to link to and shorten the url using a site like Bitly. Your tweet will only allow you 140 characters max, so you don’t want the url to use up all your space.

Step 2: Copy that shortened url and go to ClickToTweet.com. Paste in the shortened url, and add a catchy tweet. Be sure to include your Twitter handle (for instance ours is @TripepiSmith), and hashtags (click here for more on hashtags). These things are standard Twitter protocol and will help your message be discovered by other tweeters once it’s out there. Then click “Generate Link!” and copy the resulting url.

Step 3: Come back to your own website/blog post, highlight the call to action (in this article we chose the line “click here to share this article on Twitter” up there in the third paragraph), and hyperlink it to the link generated by ClickToTweet.com.

And that’s how you do it.

Happy tweeting!
