Tripepi Smith Boosts CCMF Online Engagement by 22%

The California City Management Foundation (CCMF) is an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in local government. It is a highly focused organization, pulling members from a limited pool of qualified individuals. In discussion with the board of trustees, Tripepi Smith came to understand that the Foundation wished to better engage their membership, to ensure that City Managers are aware of what CCMF has to offer, and foster a tight-knit community despite its members being widespread across the state.

Tripepi Smith is proud to announce that, during the Foundation’s 2013-14 fiscal year, traffic to the CCMF website increased by 22% (from 5,875 unique visitors over the 2012-13 fiscal year to 7,172 in the 2013-14 fiscal year). In the same time period, the number of pageviews jumped 91% (from 19,399 to 37,171) while the bounce rate fell from 51% to 22%. More people are staying longer on the CCMF website, looking at more content, and coming back more often.

These results were achieved by utilizing a number of tools. First, Tripepi Smith executed an overhaul of the CCMF website, making it easier to navigate by reducing redundancies and clarifying the options available to visitors. Second, our marketing professionals worked with the Foundation to crate more content for the site, including a new sample employment agreement for city managers, and a recording of the Foundation’s first ever webinar. Finally, Tripepi Smith engaged the organization’s highly targeted email distribution list to spread the word of CCMF and bring interested parties to the website.

CCMF enjoys an email open rate of 60.6%, far above the industry standard of 21%. Members open, read, and click on links in the majority of emails that CCMF sends out, whether those emails are general updates about the Foundation, membership renewal reminders, or the ever-popular eNews. In fact, the CCMF eNews is opened and read by roughly 75% of recipients every week.
